Fort Collins is seeking volunteers to serve on its boards and commissions, with applications now open through noon on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.

The City operates 23 boards and commissions covering topics such as housing, transportation, water, energy, and human services. These groups are made up of resident volunteers who study policy issues and provide guidance to City Council. Boards serve in an advisory role, while commissions hold decision-making authority within specific areas, including building review and historic preservation.

Applicants must live within the Fort Collins Growth Management Area for the duration of their term. Depending on the board or commission, positions carry two- or four-year terms.

Residents may apply for up to three boards or commissions—though a separate application is required for each—and can be appointed to only one. Candidate interviews will take place in February, with new members beginning service in April 2026.

More information and application materials are available at the City’s website, fcgov.com/boards. For questions, community members can contact Public Engagement Specialist Davina Lau at 970-416-2525 or [email protected].
