First announced Wednesday, July 8, Apple plans to increase its spending with Broadcom under a multiyear agreement expected to exceed $30 billion, including a $1.5 billion expansion and modernization of Broadcom’s manufacturing facility in Fort Collins.
But key local details remain unknown, according to the City of Fort Collins Economic Health Office. The office said it is too early to determine expected impacts such as job creation, average wages, tax revenue, effects on local suppliers or contractors, or whether any city incentives, permitting assistance, infrastructure support or workforce-development resources will be involved.
Broadcom is tentatively scheduled for a conceptual design review with the city on July 23, 2026, according to the Economic Health Office.
The companies announced July 8 that the agreement will support production of more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips. Broadcom’s Fort Collins facility is expected to produce advanced radio frequency components, including FBAR filters, as well as wireless connectivity technologies used in Apple products.
Apple said the agreement is part of its American Manufacturing Program, which launched last year to accelerate manufacturing in the United States. The company said the Broadcom deal is its largest commitment under that program so far and is part of Apple’s broader plan to invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy over four years.
