Fort Collins Report publisher Chris Crenshaw has been selected as one of NOCO Style’s Class of 2026 30 Under 30 honorees, a recognition celebrating young leaders across Northern Colorado for their achievements, community work, creativity and public impact.
In his NOCO Style profile, Crenshaw, 29, reflected on his path from Texas to Fort Collins, his background in higher education and his decision to build a nonprofit news organization focused on hyperlocal public-service journalism.
Crenshaw moved to Fort Collins two years ago after previously living in the Texas Hill Country and West Texas. He earned both his bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in business administration from UTSA, where he later worked in academic advising and grants management. His remote role allowed him to relocate to Northern Colorado, a place he now calls home.
In the feature, Crenshaw described Fort Collins Report as a community-led project rooted in a simple belief: communities are stronger when people have access to trustworthy reporting about the place where they live. What began as a passion project has grown into an effort to build a nonprofit news agency dedicated to accountable, transparent and reliable hyperlocal journalism.
The profile also highlights Crenshaw’s belief that local journalism remains essential, even as the industry faces significant pressure. He said success in journalism today starts with becoming indispensable to the community by consistently delivering information people need, earning trust and building a sustainable model around public service.
Crenshaw said his long-term goal is for Fort Collins Report to grow alongside the community as a trusted resource where residents can send tips, write letters, support local journalism, collaborate and stay connected to civic life.
